Wikis

It was interesting to learn how many different uses there are for Wikis. They are a great collaboration tool for teachers to use to share best practices - but I'm a little wary of the open forum they provide -- it's undoubtedly difficult to control the accuracy of the content being provided.

Social Networking

Sorry - I'm skipping around as I find pockets of time to catch up! I checked out the Global Education Collaborative and joined the Global Awareness Curriculum Group - the Global Art 4 Caring discussion forum looked interesting, so I explored that for a while - I think that jumped out at me as I just bumped into my son's elementary school art teacher while Xmas shopping - I was telling her about PS and our courses - and how we have many art teachers who actively take our courses and apply what they learnn into their art curriculum. I thought of her while I was exploring this site in case I could forward her any info that would be helpful to art teachers. The Global Education Collaborative was a bit overwhelming - but I was thinking that this is the type of site that the Teach India group could develop after their conference - to help facilitate the sharing of resources, teacher collaboration etc.

Play Week

I decided to look more deeply into Facebook - somewhat for personal reasons since my high schooler is bugging me about getting an account - and I really want to understand what it's all about before I let her sign on. I set up an account for myself and have been able to connect with some of my cousins in India who I haven't been in touch with for years! It's another way I can let friends, relatives and colleagues know about the work of Primary Source. It's also a great tool for finding out more about potential donors I've met at various social events - and I'll be interested to see how I can use this around our upcoming 20th Anniversary Event.

RSS Feed

I'm not quite sure how I feel about all this information continuously coming my way! It is truly amazing how much information is out there that can be accessed, but it's a bit overwhelming as well. I'm going to try and hone in on one or two feeds that I will try to keep on top of - it's a great resource, but I need to get a handle on it!

Happy Halloween

Hi everyone - I was checking out Flickr and came across a fun Halloween picture:

which has nothing to do with Global Ed! I'm thinking of ways to connect this site with the work I do and will keep you posted - literally!

First Blog Ever!

I finally have created a blog - took me a while, but better late than never. I had to get past a few projects before I could focus on this! I've always wondered how the blogs work, and now I know! I'm looking forward to learning more about the online world and how it can fit into our work. Thanks!
